Hanging Artwork

Magnetic products are often the safest, least damaging and easiest way to hang your favourite Artworks within your home or office. Small plastic-coated Pinboard magnets or powerful Neodymium Magnets with hooks or eyelets can provide the strength and holding ability needed to display Artwork temporarily or permanently. AMF has also worked with artists and galleries to create professional, temporary and permanent art exhibitions with the use of concealed magnets.

The weight and size of the artwork will determine which magnets you choose and how many you will need to meet the required holding strength. Some form of metal tab or strip will need to be established on the wall for any magnetic bonding to take place. This can be achieved with self-adhesive steel tabs or tape, nailed down metal plates, screwed-on countersunk metal washers or Neodymium Ring magnets.

The superior strength and relatively small size of Neodymium magnets make them visually unobtrusive and well suited to hanging Artwork. Once a metal surface has been created on the wall, magnets can bond through the canvas or any other material to hold it in the required position. For timber-framed Artwork, a strong Neodymium magnet recessed into a drilled hole in the back of the frame will also allow wall attachment to occur magnetically and free of hooks and nails. Hook and Eyelet Neodymium Pot magnets can support decorative art for festivals, parties and outdoor events by attaching to steel structures, scaffolding or fencing.

The Pull Force listed for each magnet is based on lifting 10mm thick steel from a horizontal surface. Magnets on a vertical surface (of 10mm thick steel) are generally able to hold around only 30% of the pull force listed in the product description. This is due to the effects of gravity and the lack of friction between the surface and the shiny magnet. Read More
