Magnetic Separator Bars and Tubes

AMF Magnets provide these Magnetic Separators and Tubes with the purpose of attracting foreign ferrous metallic material hidden within food or water where they might pose a hazard. Without the help of magnets, tiny metal fragments find their way into a lot of our food products without our knowledge, often through the production process. This is why Magnetic Separator Bars are often used in the product quality assurance process, in order to ensure that the products are clear of any metallic fragments that could pose some risk to the consumer. All of our Magnetic Separator Bars and Tubes have a minimum Gauss rating of 10,000. Used since the 1940’s, separator bars were usually created with Ferrite Magnets until the 1990’s when they were replaced with the considerably strong Neodymium Magnet. This superior magnet has a pull force of about 6 times stronger than ferrite magnets, ensuring that all ferrous metallic particles can be found. Neodymium, however, does not have a good resistance to heat and therefore would not be suitable for separation in hot food products or water exceeding 80 degrees Celsius. The cost and benefit ratio of using separator bars, magnetic tubes, grates, plates and magnetic wands is profound. Use these devices to ward off injury to persons and animals, repair bills, reputation damage, product recalls and increased insurance premiums. AMF Magnetics is a HACCP certified company, able to provide magnetic verification, consulting and specialised magnets and magnetic equipment to the Food Services Industry.

The Pull Force listed for each magnet is based on lifting 10mm thick steel from a horizontal surface. Magnets on a vertical surface (of 10mm thick steel) are generally able to hold around only 30% of the pull force listed in the product description. This is due to the effects of gravity and the lack of friction between the surface and the shiny magnet. Read More
