Ferrite (Ceramic) Magnets

AMF Magnets range of Ferrite Magnets are some of the most popular in our stock. This is simply because they are the most cost effective and reliable magnet on the market! With their low manufacture cost and high availability of raw materials, Ferrite Magnets are the best value permanent magnet available. Also known as Ceramic magnets, these ferrite magnets have a great resistance to corrosion, despite being quite brittle.

Ferrite (Ceramic) Magnets

Ferrite (Ceramic) Magnets

They are the permanent magnet of choice for many buyers due to their affordability in comparison to Neodymium (or Rare Earth) Magnets. The benefit of using ferrite magnets, apart from their cost effectiveness, is their amazing durability and versatility, ensuring that they are useful across the board, from industrial applications to household applications.  Ferrite Magnets are commonly used  when the requirement is a large Magnetic Field. Ferrite Magnets have mostly been in use since the 1950’s and are now one of the most widely used magnets on the market. They are available in a range of dimensions, shapes and strengths. Another considerable benefit of Ferrite Magnets is their amazing temperature resistance – they can withstand temperatures of up to 250 degrees Celsius and still maintain their magnetic integrity. This high temperature resistance is far superior to that of the Neodymium Magnet, only able to withstand approximately 80 degrees Celsius. These high quality permanent magnets are commonly used in magnetic separators, motors, water conditioning assemblies, music speakers, handicrafts, Science Experiments and various other purposes. Ferrite magnets are made from a composite of iron oxide and barium carbonate (BaC03) or strontium carbonate (SrC03) which is sintered by compacting the fine alloy powder in a die and then fusing it with heat into a solid material. Due to their high coercive force they are classified as hard materials, as are other permanent magnets including Neodymium, Samarium Cobalt and Alnico Magnets.
