Samarium Cobalt (Rare Earth) Magnets

Samarium Cobalt (Rare Earth) Magnets were developed in the 1960s and are strong Permanent Magnets made from an alloy compound of Samarium and Cobalt. At AMF Magnets New Zealand we have an extensive range of Samarium Cobalt Discs, Blocks and Cylinders in different sizes and with various pull forces! Samarium Cobalt magnets are widely used in automotive, marine and medical applications These temperature resistant magnets are some of the most versatile in our stock. Samarium Cobalt magnets are from the same family as Neodymium (Rare Earth) magnets and have generally the same strong pull force, however, they have much better temperature stability and can maintain their magnetic power in higher and lower temperatures than Neodymium Rare Earth magnets! They are ideal for operations involving small spaces due to their high magnetic strength - even the tiniest Samarium Cobalt magnet has surprisingly strong magnetism! Samarium Cobalt magnets are perfect for those seeking strong, affordable magnets with excellent resistance to corrosion and great temperature stability. Browse the selection of magnets below to see these strong, reliable, Permanent magnets.

The Pull Force listed for each magnet is based on lifting 10mm thick steel from a horizontal surface. Magnets on a vertical surface (of 10mm thick steel) are generally able to hold around only 30% of the pull force listed in the product description. This is due to the effects of gravity and the lack of friction between the surface and the shiny magnet. Read More
