Magnetic Product Description:
This magnet is being discontinued and we have limited stock available. It has a diameter of 19.05mm and a height of 6.35mm or 1 inch in imperial measurements.
Uses for our samarium cobalt disc magnets:
Samarium Cobalt Magnets were developed in the 1970's, after Alinco Magnets but prior to the now commonplace and powerful Neodymium Magnets. They retained all the beneficial qualities of Alnico while adding more useful properties such as higher Coercivity and even greater resistance to temperature fluctuations. With similar strength to Neodymium magnets but superior corrosion resistance, Samarium Cobalt is the magnetic material of choice for applications in Aviation, Aerospace, Medicine and Science where power relative to size and prolonged effective operation in extreme atmospheres or altitudes is crucial. The expensive raw materials make them a costly proposition however, which can exclude their use in all but the most critical and scientifically accurate equipment.
Specialist engineering applications and many precision control systems take advantage of the temperature stability, both high and low, of Samarium Cobalt magnets.
