Our range of Magnetic Strips and Magnetic Tape

AMF Magnets supply an extensive range of strong magnetic strips including self adhesive magnetic strips and tape in different colours, widths, lengths and thicknesses.

Flexible Magnetic strips, also referred to as magnetic tape, is a cost effective solution for many home, office or warehouse needs. However there are a range of different types of flexible magnetic strips available which can be confusing when you are trying to find the right product for your situation. We’ve put together a brief summary below however more information is available in our knowledge base and on our product pages or feel free to contact our customer service team.

Magnafix Tape System and other Self Adhesive Magnetic Tapes

Magnafix is a branded two part tape system commonly used for light box signage, retrofit double glazing and retail signage. The self adhesive strip on the reverse of the magnetic tape can be adhered to just about any surface. When used as a pair, part A and part B attract together as a pair and bond to each other with opposite magnetic poles to create a magnetic attachment from two non metallic items. This particular magnet range uses 3M or Tesa adhesive, which provides superior adhesion to various surfaces that can be hard to adhere to, like acrylics and aluminium. Refer to our FAQs to find out more about these adhesives.

AMF also provides stock of non branded magnetic tapes that can be used to attach non magnetic items to a ferrous metal surface.

White and Coloured

Coloured and white magnetic tape products are the ultimate way to organise any warehouse, studio or stock room. With their glossy surface, our Coloured Magnetic Tape and Strips are perfect for writing on with whiteboard markers. There are lots of different colours to choose from so colour coding your storage systems is a breeze. Available in either 0.6 or 0.8mm thicknesses you can choose the right magnetic strength for your needs.

Magnetic Labels

Pre cut magnetic labels are a convenient and easy option for organising your shelves, storage racks, cabinets and lockers around the home, office or warehouse. Keeping your stock in order has never been easier. There are several options including different sizes, thicknesses and colours available. The glossy surface means the labels can be written on with whiteboard markers and reused time and time again. Alternatively we stock a range of magnetic labels with a plastic sleeve for paper labels. Simply print out your desired label and slide it into place.

C and U Shaped Channel magnetic strips

Channel magnetic strips combine the convenience of magnetic labels with the ability to custom cut lengths for each individual use. Printed labels or name tags can simply be slid into the channel, making updating a breeze. The labels are also easily removed or relocated as needed.

Neodymium magnetic tape

A unique hybrid product that combined the strength of rare earth magnetic material with the flexibility of rubber, created a product that is both magnetically and physically strong and robust. This product requires a considerably higher financial outlay and is therefore not suitable for all applications. However Neodymium strip has become a go to product for many tradespeople and technicians as it is a practical solution for many remedial problems that require thinking outside the box.

Flexible strip magnetic properties:

With the exception of the Neodymium tape, these cost-effective flexible Magnetic strip products are made from Strontium Ferrite powder with a thermoplastic carrier and are magnetised on one side only. They are formed by extrusion or calendaring methods and provide good demagnetisation resistance and reasonable resistance to chemical agents. Each of these strong magnetic strip products can be easily cut and reshaped using scissors or other cutting implements.

How strong is magnetic tape?

Most magnetic tapes are formed from Ferrite magnetic material, although this is not the strongest type of magnet it is cost effective and reliable. The strength of magnetic hold is determined by the amount of material present, therefore thicker tapes generally provide a stronger hold. For more information about our magnetic strips please refer to our Knowledge Base.

The strongest type of magnetic tape is Neodymium strip however it is cost prohibitive for many applications. Please refer to the product pages for specific strength information.

What are the advantages of magnetic tape?

Magnetic tape has many advantages over hard magnets and non magnetic forms of attachment. By its very nature magnetic tape is rubbery and flexibility making it hard wearing and forgiving in high impact environments. The compact form of magnetic strip is also a great advantage, it certainly creates a more streamlined look than hard magnets would in any signage and labelling applications. Perhaps the biggest advantage of flexible magnetic tape is how cost effective it is for all manor of large projects. What can magnetic tape be used for?

Magnetic tape is suitable for so many industries and applications. Professionals and home users alike can benefit from utilising magnetic tape. No specialty tools are required as it can be easily cut and shaped with scissors or a craft knife. Magnetic tape can be used to adhere to any ferrous metal surface, be it a car, a fridge or a warehouse rack. Furthermore products such as Magnafix can be used to create a magnetic join between two non magnetic items - opening the door to endless possibilities! Maybe a better question would be - what isn’t it able to be used for?

The Pull Force listed for each magnet is based on lifting 10mm thick steel from a horizontal surface. Magnets on a vertical surface (of 10mm thick steel) are generally able to hold around only 30% of the pull force listed in the product description. This is due to the effects of gravity and the lack of friction between the surface and the shiny magnet. Read More
