This popular rare earth cylinder has a diameter of 2mm and a height of 4mm. It is an N50 grade rare earth magnet. It has a magnetic flux reading of 7027 Gauss and a pull force of 149g. It is identified by the AMF magnet part number C-D2H4-N50.

These Rare Earth rod magnets are petite in size however it is more than made for by the super strong Neodymium N50 grade material. Permanent magnets such as these rare earth cylinders are often incorporated into larger magnetic products and magnetic tools. They are sought after for the precision gained through the powerful and narrow magnetic field that extends from the flat faces of the cylinder. Small magnets such as these rod magnets are component parts hidden inside many household items such as telephones, security systems and electric motors. This magnet is Nickel coated which lends it a chrome-like appearance and provides reasonable protection against corrosion.

The most common coating for Neodymium magnets is Nickel + Copper + Nickel (Ni + Cu + Ni). This coating offers the magnet relatively good protection from corrosion and passive applications. If the magnet will be exposed to moisture or liquid then consider the use of an organic coating such as Epoxy. A hard wearing coating, Epoxy is suited to applications where the magnet will come under some friction or knocking.

The second section, denoted with the "M" prefix after the grade has an operating temperature 100 degrees. After this the grades are "H", "SH", "UH" & "EH". In order for the magnet to withstand a higher operating temperature, during production more of the raw material PrNd is incorporated as these elements have a naturally occurring resistance to high temperatures.
