Magnetic Product Description:

This popular rare earth cylinder has a diameter of 25mm and a height of 25mm. It is an N42 grade rare earth magnet. It has a magnetic flux reading of 5903 Gauss and a pull force of 26.72kg.  It is identified by the AMF magnet part number 21008.

Uses for our rare earth cylinder magnets:

These strong Neodymium Cylinders have equal height and diameter dimensions. This compact shape combined with its N42 Grade material provides an intense magnetic field at the circular pole face at each end of the magnet. They are utilised in commercial processes such as water treatment and purification as well as metal detection and removal. Permanent Magnets do not require an external power source and can respond to electrical signals or the presence of ferrous material to create a physical reaction. This makes them important components in actuators and sensors where they are appreciated for their simplistic operation,  high degree of accuracy and proven reliability. These attributes are valuable to the Automotive, Aviation and Military industries where innovation and the development of new technologies is constant and imperative in creating more sophisticated equipment that keeps them ahead of their rivals.

The most common coating for Neodymium magnets is Nickel + Copper + Nickel (Ni + Cu + Ni). This coating offers the magnet relatively good protection from corrosion and passive applications. If the magnet will be exposed to moisture or liquid then consider the use of an organic coating such as Epoxy. A hard wearing coating, Epoxy is suited to applications where the magnet will come under some friction or knocking.

Magnets are readily available in Blocks, Discs, Cylinders & Rings. Neodymium magnets are offered in several different grades. The first section N30-54 has an operating temperature of up to 80 degrees. Most of our stock only goes up to N38. The second section, denoted with the "M" prefix after the grade has an operating temperature 100 degrees. After this the grades are "H", "SH", "UH" & "EH". In order for the magnet to withstand a higher operating temperature, during production more of the raw material PrNd is incorporated as these elements have a naturally occurring resistance to high temperatures.

Perfect for my repair job.

I had an oven door that wouldn't close completely, and the hinges weren't available any more. Rather than replace the oven, I thought magnets attached to the door surround could work, as both surfaces were metal. It was trial and error, but the two heat resistant 38mm discs were sufficient to close the door completely. I now have a few extra on hand if required, but a month on, it's still snapping closed!
