This ferrite magnet has a pull force of 140 grams and a magnetic flux reading of 1739 Gauss. It is identified by the AMF magnet part number 12170.

Unlike most Ferrite blocks, this block is Magnetised through the 5mm x 3mm rectangular surface (or length) This unusual direction of magnetisation is useful in rare applications where a small magnetic surface is needed to attract or repel opposing magnetic material or where a concentrated field is required. They're also popular for use in school science projects to demonstrate magnetic orientation and are less expensive, safer and easier to handle than Neodymium magnets.
