Uses for our Alnico Horseshoe Magnets:

With clearly marked Poles and painted surfaces to indicate magnetic orientation, our Alnico Horseshoe magnets are popular with schools and science departments and are used to demonstrate magnetic fields and their physical properties. A lesser-known characteristic of Alnico alloy is its propensity to slowly lose its magnetic strength over time. The magnetism slowly discharges into the surrounding atmosphere but this can be delayed or minimised by placing a metal cap across the poles to contain the magnetic field or can be reversed by re-energising the magnet with an electrical charge. The Polarity of Horseshoes and Alnico bars and rods can be reversed or alternated by electrical charge also.
