Bought as an educational gift.
The magnet was bought ti introduce the concept of magnetic force, and give understanding of where magnets are used.
Product code: 49013
This alnico Horseshoe Magnet has a height of 28mm, a width of 25mm, and a depth of 8mm. It has a maximum temperature of 500‚Å?. Our horseshoe magnet is identified by the AMF Magnets part number 49013.
Horshoe shaped Alnico magnets are essentially Bar Alnico magnets that are cast in a curve shape so the North and South poles are in close proximity with an air gap of varying degrees between them. This concentrates and increases their magnetic strength and accentuates their holding power over ferrous objects. The magnetic field and relationship between the poles are easily observed during demonstrations and experiments by using the Horseshoe shape. A metal plate is used to bridge the air gap when the magnet is not in use, so magnetic power is retained and prevented from being dispersed into the environment over time. For this same reason, Alinco Bars are stored in parallel pairs in a North to South arrangement to maintain the Magnetic loop or circuit.
Alnico Horseshoe Magnet - 28mm x 25mm x 8mm (49013)
NB: Ranges are indicative for product category, please check individual products for specic values within that range.
Alnico is most commonly produced by a Casting process. A key feature of Alnico magnets are their high temperature operating limits.
