Magnetic Product Description:

This rare earth disc has a diameter of 25mm and a height of 2.5mm. It has a magnetic flux reading of 1235 Gauss and a pull force of 4kg. It is identified by the AMF magnet part number 20007.5 and the north pole is marked for easy identification.

Uses for our rare earth disc magnets:

Thinking of joining the horsey set? As well as some smart new outfits for yourself, you should consider how some of these super lightweight but powerful neodymium disc magnets can assist your relationship with the horse.

Cushioned strappings held in place by magnetisation can be purchased to protect your mounts fetlocks, (lower section of the horse’s legs). Fetlocks are the most vulnerable part of a horse’s body and these discs are used to hold wrap- around sections of cotton or wool padding in place mitigating injury situations for these prized and often expensive to maintain animals. They can be locked in place using these magnets and released noiselessly, which is important. Horses do not like noisy surprises, especially from down there. Small business people who make equipment, protective or otherwise for these animals, keep the horse’s assets and sensitivities in mind when making these safety products.

Magnets are light, which horses like. They fasten and release noiselessly and without tugging or tearing, which horses also like. Magnets, concealed inside other wearable apparatus, like saddle cloths, provide a fixing system without scratching or irritating the skin, which they also really like.

Horses are very special animals. Their role in human history is unique and unchallenged. Magnets, including these discs, help keep relations friendly between these iconic creatures and their grateful human caretakers.

The most common coating for Neodymium magnets is Nickel + Copper + Nickel (Ni + Cu + Ni). This coating offers the magnet relatively good protection from corrosion and passive applications. If the magnet will be exposed to moisture or liquid then consider the use of an organic coating such as Epoxy. A hard wearing coating, Epoxy is suited to applications where the magnet will come under some friction or knocking.

Magnets are readily available in Blocks, Discs, Cylinders & Rings. AMF Magnetics specializes in the supply of short-run prototype magnets including Arc Segments, various magnetic orientations etc. If you need a magnet size that we don't carry in stock, submit a Design-a-Magnet enquiry for a quote on your custom magnet design.

Neodymium magnets are offered in several different grades. The first section N30-54 has an operating temperature of up to 80 degrees. Most of our stock only goes up to N38. The second section, denoted with the "M" prefix after the grade has an operating temperature 100 degrees. After this the grades are "H", "SH", "UH" & "EH". In order for the magnet to withstand a higher operating temperature, during production more of the raw material PrNd is incorporated as these elements have a naturally occurring resistance to high temperatures.
