Uses for our rare earth block magnets:

This strong Neodymium  Countersunk block magnet is ideal for permanent fastening and popular with carpenters, sheet metal fabricators, aluminium and glazing businesses and hardware retailers. It can be attached to any surface using a readily available flat head screw. One or more of these magnets can be screwed into doors, cupboards, draws or cabinets and will act as a closing device by attracting any metal plate or surface that approaches its magnetic field. N.B. Avoid overtightening the attachment screw in order to prevent damaging the magnet.

Worked well

I used the block as one half of a magnetic latch for a tool box. The other half comprised three short lengths of fencing wire inserted end-on into the mating surface.

works well , but they are brittle .

Used these magnets to hold extra bits in my drill driver box .

They work great , but I broke the first one by tightening the screw with the impact driver , don't do this , tightened with a screwdriver no problem .

Good but .....

Magnets arrived very quickly but arrived with 2 cracked magnets in the centre of the pack. Attached the surviving magnets to the underside of a small key safe that can now solidly attach to the underneath of the car while parked.

AMF Reply:

Hi Stephanie, thank you for your feedback! Sorry to hear two magnets arrived cracked, we package all our magnets with a generous amount of bubblewrap to prevent any breakages during transit but if you'd like to send us email with a photo of the cracked magnets along with your invoice number we can arrange a replacement. Kind Regards, AMF Magnetics.

The most common coating for Neodymium magnets is Nickel + Copper + Nickel (Ni + Cu + Ni). This coating offers the magnet relatively good protection from corrosion and passive applications. If the magnet will be exposed to moisture or liquid then consider the use of an organic coating such as Epoxy. A hard wearing coating, Epoxy is suited to applications where the magnet will come under some friction or knocking.

Magnets are readily available in Blocks, Discs, Cylinders & Rings. AMF Magnetics specializes in the supply of short-run prototype magnets including Arc Segments, various magnetic orientations etc. If you need a magnet size that we don't carry in stock, submit a Design-a-Magnet enquiry for a quote on your custom magnet design.

Neodymium magnets are offered in several different grades. The first section N30-54 has an operating temperature of up to 80 degrees. Most of our stock only goes up to N38. The second section, denoted with the "M" prefix after the grade has an operating temperature 100 degrees. After this the grades are "H", "SH", "UH" & "EH". In order for the magnet to withstand a higher operating temperature, during production more of the raw material PrNd is incorporated as these elements have a naturally occurring resistance to high temperatures.
